Each year on Labor Day Charlie and Jason hold their annual End of Summer party. Shooting blue rock, eating wild game cooked over an open fire and good conversation/story telling with friends. Another great day!

Asking for Your Help

As another summer season comes to a close it is time for Dani and I to rack our brains in effort to come up with new, fun activities for kids and for the entire family.
In addition to our 2009 activities: fish fry potluck, professional guide seminar, Baggo tournament, minnow races we added several activites for 2010: campfire with free smores, free hotdogs and chips during Baggo tournament, live music before fish fry potluck, a Naturalist program, week long dice roll game, scheduled kids crafts/activities and a week long phrase game.
We request your help. What have you experienced or seen at other vacation spots for activities that would fit into our resort? Has your school had activities that you and your children really enjoyed?

A special Thank You to John Perkins for entertaining our guests this summer before our weekly fish-fry potluck. John is a gifted musician and song writer with a fun sense of humor. John's songs are about Sand Lake, Walleye Fishing, The Chippewa National Forest, making Maple Syrup or other topics pertaining to the Great Northwoods of Minnesota.

It was a lot of fun watching children get up and dance or to join John on the microphone to sing his songs.

Weekly Baggo Tournament with Lunch

Every Thursday during the summer weeks Lakewood Lodge holds a Baggo Tournament. During the tournament Cole cooks hotdogs with chips for everyone staying at the resort. This tournament has turned into a big hit with lots of participants of all ages. Some weeks the competition is fierce with friendly heckling and other weeks it is more causal and just for fun. Regardless all have fun and get a free lunch.

Dani the boys and I snuck out for our first family fishing trip of the year. Two hours on the water produced 49 Gills, Sunnys and Perch. In this picture Dani shows off her nice, wide 10"+ Sunfish. Had lots of fun and good family time.
